Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Involving Two 15-Year-Old Girls in Elizabethtown
ELIZABETHTOWN — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a 15-year-old girl dead early Sunday morning, allegedly at the hands of another 15-year-old girl, according to Elizabethtown police.
Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to reports of a female who had been shot in the chest at the Lowe’s parking lot located at 100 Lowe’s Drive. When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old man, identified as Bryan Harbison, performing CPR on the victim. A second juvenile female was also at the scene.
Investigators later determined that both females involved were 15 years old.
Police said Harbison told investigators he met the girls through Snapchat and believed the victim was 18 years old. According to police, Harbison admitted that he purchased alcohol for the girls and picked them up so they could drink together in the parking lot.
During the investigation, police said the juvenile suspect admitted to picking up a gun inside the vehicle, pointing it at the victim, and pulling the trigger. The victim was seated in the backseat of the vehicle with Harbison at the time of the shooting, while the suspect was in the driver’s seat.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police noted that accounts given by Harbison and the juvenile suspect conflicted regarding how the suspect obtained the firearm. Harbison told police the gun was stored in the glove compartment and that the suspect removed it without his knowledge. The suspect, however, told police that Harbison placed the gun on the vehicle’s center console and told her it was unloaded.
Following the investigation, the juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with murder. Harbison was also arrested and charged with first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor and first-degree wanton endangerment.
The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to review evidence and statements related to the shooting.
