Critical Incident in Boynton Beach Leaves One Dead, Prompts Lockdowns
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A heavy law enforcement presence remains in place following a critical incident near High Ridge Road just north of Gateway Boulevard on Monday, authorities confirmed.
Police said the incident occurred in the area of the 2400 block of High Ridge Road. As a precaution, residents were urged to avoid the area spanning High Ridge Road to Miner Road, Gateway Boulevard, and surrounding streets while officers responded and secured the scene.
According to preliminary information, two people were shot during the incident. One victim was confirmed dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a nearby hospital, though their condition has not been released.
Officials emphasized that the incident did not occur at a school. However, schools and businesses within the affected area were placed on lockdown as a safety measure while police conducted their response and investigation.
Multiple law enforcement agencies were observed on scene, and the area was temporarily closed to traffic. Authorities later reported that the scene was secured and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Police have not released the identities of the victims or details about a possible suspect. The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available. An active shooter call was received by 911.
Residents and motorists are advised to continue avoiding the area until authorities fully reopen roadways and lift lockdown measures.
