Pittsburgh Community Mourns the Loss of Kayla Castro, Devoted Mother and Healthcare Worker
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Family, friends, and members of the Pittsburgh community are mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Kayla Castro, a devoted mother of two and a registered nurse assistant, who died Saturday after suffering a medical emergency. She was taken far too soon on January 10, 2026.
Kayla Castro was known for her tireless dedication to her family. A loving mother to her children, Mila and Brantley, she worked two jobs to provide for them and to ensure they had access to strong educational opportunities. Those close to her described her as selfless, determined, and deeply committed to giving her children a stable and hopeful future.
In addition to being a mother, Kayla was a sister, a daughter, and a friend whose compassion extended beyond her home and into her work in healthcare. She had recently begun a new career as a registered nurse assistant, pursuing her passion for helping others, but had not yet become eligible for employment benefits.
